HIGH-PRESSURE FLOW CELL

The flow-through high-pressure cell (Patent #5,949,536) allows transmission spectra of samples at pressures up to 5,000 psi. The cell is optimized for SFC or high-pressure process measurements because of its' windowless design that combines high optical throughput with a small internal volume and small overall size. Sapphire optics allow spectral measurements in the UV, Visible, NIR and partway into the mid-IR regions. The cell is easily disassembled for inspection or cleaning, and equally easily reassembled.

CELL CHARACTERISTIC: ADVANTAGES

Monolithic construction, no windows: No leaks at windows seals.

High optical throughput for good signal/noise.

Low parts count: Easily disassembled for cleaning

Optical path length cannot change: no quantitation error.

Sapphire optics: Use in UV, visible, near-IR, mid-IR (to 5.5 micron).

Hard, Strong, Inert: Not scratched or damaged by harsh mechanical or chemical conditions.

High pressure capability No change to sample conditions

Small sample chamber:

       Maximize sensitivity to small samples.
Rapid flushing of sample chamber minimizes mixing/carryover.

Tubing enters into block: defines sample chamber.

No dead volume to cause mixing or carryover of separated analytes.

Small size: Can fit into available space.
